TextInbound FAQ
Is the SMS number that I select dedicated to my organisation?
Yes. Once you have chosen the number, the number is allocated exclusively to you until you no longer need it.
Do I pay for the messages that are being received on my number?
No. There are no inbound message costs associated with TextInbound.
How much does a message cost the person sending the SMS to our inbound number?
All TextInbound numbers are UK numbers. Messages sent to standard TextInbound numbers (and as replies to outbound messages) are charged at the sender’s standard text message rate for sending messages to Guernsey-based mobile numbers. Some UK networks (3 and T-Mobile, for example) can charge more for sending messages to Channel Island numbers. Should you wish senders only to be charged their standard network rate for sending a message to a UK mobile, then TextAnywhere can provide a Vodafone UK number as your TextInbound number at an additional charge. Please contact us if this is a requirement.
How do I receive the inbound messages?
When you set your TextInbound service up, you choose how you would like us to process each inbound message, and how we should forward the message on to you. You can choose to simply receive each inbound message as it comes in by email, or you can set up and run a simple response service that sends back an automated text and then forwards each inbound message on to you as an email or an SMS. Additionally you can also run an SMS vote, a quiz or your own subscription service with your TextInbound number.
There are no additional costs for using any of our TextBack, TextQuiz, TextVote or TextList services with your TextInbound number.
If you are a developer partner you can receive your inbound messages on to a designated URL address, or poll us using the Web Service.
What information do you send me for every message sent to my number?
We send the message body, the sender’s phone number, the date/time that we received the inbound message and the inbound number that the message was received on.
Do you use our mobile phone numbers for marketing purposes?
No we do not. We conform to the stringent regulations of the Data Protection Act. Your user and contact details are confidential to you.
